First off- the new submission system is bad and deviant art should FEEL VERY BAD FOR ONCE AGAIN TRYING TO CHASE AFTER PHOTOBUCKET, AND OTHER FAIL. Photobucket's new system is TERRIBLE. WHY COPY IT?
And stash has always been a disaster. With its blinding white color scheme, errors and convoluted system.
Here's what people love: Simple. Direct. To the point systems that work exactly as they look like the work.
Here is what people do not love: Companies copying apple/facebook/skype/etc. Using convoluted code that has layers of crap to load even though the outside still looks the same/worse.
No. Bad. YOU ARE BAD AND SHOULD FEEL BAD NOW.
Finished? Great! Now code a way to let people use the old system, and hopefully we never have to have this discussion again.
I do see 2 useful features here. So now its time for you to ditch the white color scheme now.

New species. Was just going to be a character ref but turned into a species sheet with no character ref. mostly cause i couldn't find a good color scheme i liked or decide on the gender. So species. They I am thinking for now can be found on my naga planet Angui, and were created by EGEARA by combining DNA from local species, its own, and some remnant human DNA.
These snakes have a diverse and relatively advanced lifestyle. They have Villages, towns and gathering places [though their populations aren't widespread enough to really expand into outright cities]. They are extremely close and in family groups, and enjoy frequent close contact, particularly the grooming and maintenance of their feathery plumes.
These snakes have only one gender. They all are able to impregnate others as well as bare young.

There are some wild, animal relatives that still exist, and that's where the idea for these guys came from. I was like 'hey why cant these be nagas? They will have a sheet eventually too. They are pretty cool! Designed both of these back last semester during school. The small wildtypes can glide [and possibly fly]
The smaller guy on the right was my original attempt at a character, based off of this: [link]
That creature I linked in the description is a sort of failsafe/survival tool that is able to recombine DNA. Unfortunately, this one got out of control after the colony ship crash landed, activating prematurely and devouring anything it could find.
The Usanati seem to be a blend of remnant human DNA, some local wildlife [Such as those mentioned feathered serpents] as well as the system's own genetic code (which is reptilian). Alot of the local wildlife was decimated, as well as a large array of new species were introduced into the ecosystem. Its unstable.
Feathered reptiles seem to be a big portion of the natural fauna, so these guys are able to adapt fairly well.
All in all, those feathers were gliding feathers of some of the DNA of local species- but these hybrid offspring have too heavy of bodies. But fortunately their social grooming helps keep them well kept and is a method of bonding between individuals. So that, along with displaying health and 'beauty' to potential partners would be what i consider the feathers for this race to be used for.
Ah, okay, I get you, so basically they're vestigial. Dude, holy shit, I just looked at that snake. I didn't see the link. That snake is like a slithering rave, jesus, look at him, how does he do anything, he's practically glowing. He shows up and people put on sunglasses, they're like, stop being so bright, ravesnake, I can see you from a mile.
but that's interesting. So this is post apocalyptic earth?
I WANT LIKE TEN. OK.
Also grooming. yeas. sure. Just. grooming 7u7 <3
I want to see the smaller flying wildtypes. FLYING SNAKEEESSSSS.
